MOJAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — A fatal car accident forced the closure of I-15 near the Utah-Arizona border Monday night.
Arizona Highway Patrol units investigated a collision involving four vehicles, three injuries and one fatality on Interstate 15 at mile marker 19.5, which is 11 miles north of Littlefield, at 6:32 p.m., according to DPS spokesman Raul Garcia. The collision occurred on Nov. 4, 2013.
A Toyota SUV that was in tow southbound on I-15 broke loose from an unknown vehicle that was towing it. The Toyota SUV remained in the roadway, blocking the lane. A Honda sedan traveling the same direction struck the rear of the Toyota SUV that was blocking the roadway. A Hyundai SUV traveling southbound struck the rear of the Honda Sedan.
Two of the injured occupants were transported by ground to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
One patient was flown by helicopter to UMC Las Vegas.
The roadway was completely opened just after 1:30 a.m.
