Tom Callan reporting The Davis County Commission signed a resolution urging either a streetcar or TRAX extension into the southern part of the county.

Now comes the hard part. "The money," explained Commissioner Louenda Downs.

And where to find it? Downs has a preference. "I would love to have this be federally funded," she said.

But she knows the money spigot coming out of Washington is less of a gusher and more of a trickle. "You know, we'd have to have some local effort to make this plan happen," she said.

She defines local effort as a possible sales tax increase. But she adds that could be a decade down the road at the earliest. Another option: an infusion from the Legislature.
