LEHI — The Utah Department of Transportation will close I-15 in both directions overnight in Lehi near 2100 North on Friday. UDOT discussed with KSL the delays and detours drivers should be aware of.
The area closing is I-15 right around 2100 North in Lehi, just south of the Point of the Mountain. It's a full freeway shutdown.
The closure is part of the UDOT project to turn 2100 North into a freeway that merges onto I-15.
UDOT said Rocky Mountain Power has some power lines there that are in the way. Overnight, taller power lines will be installed, which will allow crews to start working on the new freeway ramps underneath them. A UDOT spokesperson explained the detour should be minimal.

"If you're not traveling overnight, you don't really have to worry about this, but we don't want anyone to be surprised. We want people to have the information so they can plan an extra five minutes; the detour's not going to be that extensive," said John Gleason, UDOT public relations director.
Both north and southbound lanes are closing overnight. Drivers will start seeing hints of the closure at 9 p.m. At midnight on Friday, I-15 completely shuts down, and won't reopen until 5 a.m. Saturday.
UDOT will detour traffic onto Thanksgiving Way. The main thing drivers should know is that crews will divert traffic off the freeway in both directions.
This will lead to some delays, so plan ahead.
