WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) -- West Jordan will soon get a new elementary school.
Last night, the City Council put its stamp of approval on the project.
Construction on the new school is set to begin next month. The year-round school is expected to ease overcrowding at area schools.
The council's approval came as a relief to many West Jordan residents and parents of students at Oakcrest Elementary, which is the most populated elementary school in the district with 1,400 students.
The $13.5 million school will be built on the city's northwest side at 6000 West and 7000 South. It's expected to open its doors in July 2008.
