SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An Ogden man and his two business partners will spend a combined 11.3 years in federal prison for failing to pay the payroll taxes of clients.
Douglas Morby, of Ogden, was the chief executive officer of Provident Management Services, a payroll services company. Scott M. Boley of Mesa, Ariz. was company president and Illinois resident Robert Langford its chief operating officer. The company operated out of Utah and Arizona.
U.S. District Judge Dale Kimball ordered Morby to prison for 36 months; Boley to 30 months and Langford to 70 months. The prison terms begin Dec. 3.
Kimball also ordered the three to pay more than $2.3 million in restitution to clients.
Prosecutors say the business was underfunded and that money for taxes was used to pay daily expenses and acquire real estate.
