WENDOVER — A man died after his pickup truck overcorrected and rolled several times on I-80 eastbound near the Knolls Recreation Area in Tooele County, officials said.
The crash was first reported about 5 p.m. and took place about 10 miles east of Knolls. Utah Department of Transportation officials are asking travelers to seek an alternate route.
The man was driving east on I-80 when his truck drifted off the left side of the road, Utah Highway Patrol officials said on the agency's website. The driver steered the truck back onto the road, but then overcorrected back off the left side, officials said.
The truck then skidded and rolled several times. The man was wearing a seatbelt but died at the scene from head trauma injuries, UHP said.
It was not clear if anyone else was in the truck during the crash. Officials did not immediately release the man's name or age.
