SALT LAKE CITY — Presidential candidate Evan McMullin has released a new video petitioning Utahns to "come home."
In a video released exclusively on KSL.com, McMullin and vice presidential candidate Mindy Finn describe the proverbial houses that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are inviting voters to come home to, saying that Trump’s home is a “house of horrors, filled with his erratic, dishonest, sexist and offensive ways” and that Clinton is “inviting you to enter a house of crime and corruption built by big-government liberalism and a belief that she’s unaccountable to the American people.”
The invitation to "come home" hints toward earlier comments made by vice presidential candidate Mike Pence who called on Republicans and conservatives to “come home and elect Donald Trump as the next president of the United States.”
In the video, McMullin, says that "anyone can construct a house with power, money and influence. It takes leadership to create a home built on the principles of freedom and opportunity for all.”
McMullin and Finn ask Utahns to vote for a candidate who is "built upon the principles of freedom and opportunity to all.”
McMullin, who jumped into the race late to combat the two major party candidates with what he calls a new “conservative movement,” says that “a real home is built on powerful principles and the timeless truths that have made our communities and our country extraordinary.
“These are the kinds of truths that should define a place we call home,” he adds.
McMullin has spent the bulk of his campaign in the Mountain West region of the country as he attempts to appeal to conservative voters who are disappointed with Trump and Clinton as the two major candidates.
McMullin ends the video asking supporters to answer the question of "what does coming home mean to you?" by sharing their answer on a social post or video using #ComingHome.
"Let’s join together and send a message to our leaders, and to each other about what it really means to come home to an America that we can all be proud of."
