ISLAND PARK, Idaho (AP) — Idaho officials say they shot and killed a grizzly bear in eastern Idaho that had become habituated to humans and posed a threat to public safety.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game on Saturday says workers killed the young male grizzly on Friday as it tried to enter the Forest Service Mill Creek Campground in the Island Park area.

It's the same bear that workers captured on July 11 and relocated to a remote area with a radio collar.

But the 300-pound (135-kilogram) bear immediately returned to the Mill Creek area.

Fish and Game says workers were in the area setting a trap on Friday to capture it again when the bear appeared and wouldn't leave despite hazing attempts by Fish and Game.
