BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Bernie Sanders has won Idaho's Democratic caucus. Sanders and Hillary Clinton were vying for the state's 27 delegates to the party's national convention in Philadelphia this summer. And while Idaho is one of the most conservative states in the nation, having not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964, Sanders actively courted voters there. He had campaign rallies in eastern Idaho as well as Boise.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter says he's unhappy with the 7.4 percent funding boost Idaho lawmakers have agreed to budget toward the state's public schools. Otter had proposed a 7.9 percent hike in education spending for fiscal year 2017. With the Idaho Legislature expected to adjourn over the next few days, it is unlikely the governor will get his request. The public schools budget has already passed the House and is currently headed to the Senate before it can hit the governor's desk.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A bill prohibiting powdered alcohol in Idaho is headed to the governor's desk after narrowly passing its final legislative hurdle. The ban prohibits the use, sale and possession of powdered alcohol, marketed as Palcohol. Opponents say they are concerned about over-regulation.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Members of a luxury golf club on Lake Coeur d'Alene have lost a lawsuit seeking reimbursement after the club was surrendered to a bank in 2010. The Spokesman-Review reports that about 300 former members filed a class-action lawsuit against Washington Trust Bank and subsidiary West Sprague Avenue Holdings LLC. They argued that they were entitled to nearly $29 million in fees paid to The Club at Black Rock LLC. A jury ruled the bank doesn't have to reimburse that money.
