PROVO -- Provo police say a rollover crash killed a man in Slate Canyon.

Investigators say 34-year-old Christopher Goins, from the Provo area, drove his truck into an area where vehicle traffic is banned.

Police say he tried to drive up some old switchbacks above the canyon's entrance. Apparently the truck slid off the edge and rolled down a steep embankment.

Officers found the truck upside down in a parking lot near the Bonneville Shoreline Trail around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Goins was ejected and died at the scene.
