OGDEN -- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is trying to reassure people impacted by the closure of Centennial Bank.
The FDIC says checks are in the mail for people whose money was deposited in the bank. It's reassuring customers their deposits of up to $250,000 are insured. Money above that amount may be OK depending on the type of account.
The Utah Bankers Association tells the Standard-Examiner its members will speed up the process of cashing those FDIC checks.
State banking regulators shut down Centennial Bank Friday evening because it was insolvent, but the process of closing the bank is ongoing. Monday, people were picking up items from safe-deposit boxes as workers and government agents shut down the business.
