What image do you have in your mind when you think of the kitchen of the future? Do you picture touch-sensitive drawers and cabinets programmed to open according to what you'll be cooking? If so, the future might be closer than you think, thanks to Randy Deem's company and its innovative Anvil Motion Cabinet System.

Randy, president of Anvil Cabinet and Mill, and his team developed Anvil Motion, the first cabinetry system of its kind in the world. It's automated, intelligent and uniquely capable of creating living spaces with simplicity and style. Each cabinet and drawer is computerized and will open or close with the touch of a button. The central control device is designed to be programmed to open cabinets in synch with each kitchen process.

Randy is in the process of a nationwide launch of the patented product to high-end residential homes across the United States. He's also setting up showrooms in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Closer to home, Brigham City-based Anvil Cabinet and Mill is well-known for its residential cabinets. Randy says he began working in cabinetry more than 30 years ago. He spent two years learning all facets of cabinet making before becoming a general contractor for 25 years. During an economic high in 1996, he accepted the chance to provide cabinets for a spec home that his company was building. He recruited his sons, Kip, Russell and Nathan and his nephew John to help him.

The cabinets were so well received that the Deems eventually built cabinets for other contractors and home owners. Clients loved the quality of the cabinets as well as the ease of the entire transaction with the company. Randy remains committed to 100 percent satisfaction on every cabinet order, which has likely contributed to his company's growth. He's hoping to see Anvil Cabinet and Mill spread from northern Utah throughout the Intermountain West with Anvil Motion going nationwide.
