MAGNA -- An early morning fire in Magna gutted one home and damaged another Sunday.

According to the Unified Fire Authority, the fire broke out in the garage of a home near 3600 South and 7800 West around 1 a.m. The flames quickly spread to the house, then jumped to the house next door.

The fire was so big, first responders could see the flames from several blocks away.

Firefighters said one man was sleeping in the home at the time, but his neighbors woke him up and got him out of the house before he was hurt.

Fire investigators are still searching out the cause, but estimate damage costs to be close to $200,000.
