NEPHI -- A bomb threat forced the evacuations of Juab High School and Juab Junior High Wednesday morning.
By Wednesday night, the Nephi Police Department said they had a juvenile in custody.
Juab School District officials said someone found the threat written on the bathroom stall in the vocational building on campus Tuesday, including the time the bomb would go off -- 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The Nephi Police Department and Juab County Sheriff's Office searched the schools overnight and were still investigating when kids came to school Wednesday. At some point, investigators discovered something that elevated the threat, and they evacuated all students and faculty.
"As the situation became more heightened, then the decision was made to cancel class and evacuate the building," said Darin Clark with the Juab School District.
Bomb-sniffing dogs swept the building and found no bomb.
Nephi police are not releasing any information about the juvenile accused of making the threat. They say they are confident the whole thing was a hoax.
In all, close to 1,000 students were sent home.
