SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to up to life in prison in the stabbing death of a man in 2007.
Thomas Soules was sentenced last week in 3rd District Court to 16 years to life on a murder charge and six years to life on an aggravated robbery charge. Both are first-degree felonies.
A judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
In September 2007, 40-year-old David Farrimond was found dead from a stab wound to the heart in a church parking lot in Kearns.
Last year a jury returned guilty verdicts on the murder and robbery charges. Prosecutors said Soules tried to rob Farrimond and ended up killing him.
Soules apologized in court.
