(KSL News) Polygamist leader Warren Jeffs and other top FLDS church officials will pay $8.8 million for failing to respond to a lawsuit.

The court-appointed fiduciary for the church's United Effort Plan Trust filed the lawsuit. According to the Deseret Morning News, it accuses Jeffs and others of misusing the church's property, engaging in misconduct and interfering with his job.

The court took control of the UEP back in 2005 after allegations of fleecing the money. Jeffs is scheduled to go to trial next month on rape charges.
