SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake County Council has approved a proposal from Salt Lake County District Attorney Lohra Miller to spend $10,000 on a dog for the Midvale City Police Department's K9 unit.
The money would enable Midvale's police department to replace Koda, a dog recently killed in the line of duty.
The money will be taken from the district attorney's asset forfeiture budget, which is money seized from criminals.
A funeral service for Koda is scheduled for Saturday.
