DRAPER -- A 6-year-old boy from Draper will never forget his ride to school Friday morning. Neither will his classmates. Dylan Smith showed up to school in a monster truck.
At 10:30 Friday morning, you couldn't miss Big Foot, or the escort it had, as the monster truck made its way through a Draper neighborhood to pick up Dylan.
"I heard he didn't sleep very much last night."
Big Foot's driver, Dan, was happy to give Dylan and his buddy an up-close look at the truck. Dylan's mom, Heather Smith, said he deserves this because he's been through a lot.
"He is now in remission and finished with chemotherapy," Heather said. "He had leukemia and A.L.L."
For three and a half years Dylan had to undergo chemotherapy, but now he's done.
"He just goes for follow-ups every three months now, and things look great," Heather said.
When Big Foot and Dylan arrived at school, they were a hit! All his classmates were waiting for him, and they all got a turn to touch the giant wheels and get their pictures taken.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation made this possible for Dylan.
"It was really cool," Dylan said.
This is actually the second wish The Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted for Dylan, called a wish enhancement. His first was to go on a Disney Cruise.
Make-A-Wish keeps track of kids' wishes for five years. If they can make them happen, they do.
