BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Condors (16-6-2-0) scored a power-play goal with 25 seconds left in overtime to defeat the Utah Grizzlies (14-7-2-0) 3-2 Saturday night at the Rabobank Arena.
Utah fell behind 1-0 4:18 into the game on a Bakersfield power-play goal before Tom May tied the contest on a penalty-shot with his ninth goal of the year with 1:03 left in the opening frame.
The game stayed tied at one until AJ Perry gave Utah a 2-1 lead just 67 seconds into the third as he knocked in a lose puck on a Ryan Kinasewich setup. Bakersfield tied the game at two on a shorthanded goal at 7:05 of the third period.
Utah killed off 1:54 of shorthanded time to start the overtime period but was unable to fight off a final minor to complete the extra session as Bakersfield entended their home winning streak to ten games and their unbeaten streak to ten games (8-0-2-0).
Parker Van Buskirk stopped 33 of 36 in the tough luck loss for Utah.
Utah continues on the road Wednesday in Idaho. Face-off is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home Friday and Saturday when they will welcome Bakersfield to the E-Center. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
