OGDEN -- A very special Utah woman was honored Wednesday on her 100th birthday.

Two portraits of Velma Saunders were unveiled. One will hang at the Weber County Commission offices; the other at the local United Way office.
Velma still works three days a week at the county commission offices. She may be 100, but she's still full of energy.
"Hooray! Hooray! It's my birthday!" Saunders said. "A hundred years ago today a miracle was born!"
Velma's grandparents were slaves, and she said she can remember when she couldn't go through the front door of Ogden's Hotel Ben Lomond. But she eventually became a very popular receptionist for the Weber County Commission.
Happy Birthday, Velma!
