Well, they've lost one game too many, but the Cougars have jumped into BCS Bowl at-large eligibility in the latest BCS Standings.

*******

The Cougars' #14 placement ties BYU's highest-ever BCS standing; the Cougars were 14th at 10-1 on November 16, 2008.

BYU was one of 20 teams announced as "under consideration" for BCS participation last week, and the Cougars could keep that status this week, although possibility of an at-large selection is so remote as to be all but inconceivable.

The MWC-affiliated bowls will likely not make their picks until such a time as potential bowl participants are "released" from BCS consideration, even if that release is a formality. As is stands, the league says "MWC bowl announcements will be finalized on Sunday, Dec. 6."
