Downtown Salt Lake City is "Home of the Utes" and downtown businesses recently painted the town red by decorating their business or storefront. The contest was sponsored by the Downtown Alliance and University of Utah Athletics to show support for the University of Utah football team.
Metropolitan restaurant won first place in the Paint the Town Red contest—with a "Meet us in the MUSS" theme.
Karen Olsen, proprietor of Metropolitan says Utah's sports teams are a big part of the local scene in Salt Lake City and the restaurant wanted to support University of Utah Athletics, the faculty and the staff for supporting Metropolitan over the years.
Metropolitan had an interactive theme, which included a miniature football field in front of the restaurant, and the University of Utah fight song amplified indoors and out.
