The MWC's Preseason Player of the Year is off to an award-winning start on the hardwoods; this news came out of the league offices a short time ago:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU junior Jimmer Fredette has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through November 15. This is the third weekly accolade of his career.
A 6-2 guard from Glen Falls, N.Y., Fredette led the Cougars to a season-opening win over Bradley (70-60) last Friday. He scored a game-high 25 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while also recording five rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes. Fredette scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half, while also dishing out three assists. He also went 12-of-14 from the charity stripe in the second half, including hitting all six of his attempts in the final five minutes of the contest.
