BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON -- It's sunny and warm for this time of year, but the ski season is still officially here.

Solitude Mountain Resort opened up Friday, though most of the snow is man-made.

The resort opened for just one day to pass-holders on Halloween last week. With its official season open, it's reporting a 16-inch base at mid-mountain.

The next Utah resort scheduled to open is Brighton Resort, on Nov. 16.
