ST. GEORGE -- A convicted sex offender and student at Dixie State College is in jail accused of downloading pornography while on campus.

An officer arrested James Edward Cox, 24, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after he noticed Cox parked in a secluded area on campus.

Police say Cox admitted to the officer that he was using the college's wireless network to download pornography.

Cox is a convicted sex offender from Colorado. The Utah sex offender registry indicates Cox was convicted in 2008 of sexual exploitation of a minor and obscenity in Colorado.

According to the Deseret News, police are now investigating whether the laptop Cox was using is the same one that earlier was reported missing from the college's science building.
