(KSL News) Backers of school vouchers say they are confident their bill will pass -- but opponents say they aren't playing fair.
Rep. Steven Urquhart (R), St. George: "This is the year for vouchers the dialog has been maturing for about six years now and the bill has changed to address a lot of the concerns that have been raised and we have the votes and this is the year we're going to get it done."
The bill outlines a plan to give families between 500 and 3,000 dollars a year to spend on private school tuition.
Opponents say the bill still doesn't work, but that supporters are holding other education bills hostage until their bill is passed.
The bill was introduced in the House yesterday. It could be voted on as early as next week.
