OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A post office in Ogden that was on a list of candidates for possible closure will remain open.
The U.S. Postal Service made the announcement on Thursday.
This summer the central Ogden post office, identified as Ogden Town Station, and a Salt Lake City post office, identified as an airport mail center, were on the list of possible closures.
The Salt Lake City facility already has been removed from the list.
The post office has been struggling with a sharp decline in mail volume as people and businesses switch to e-mail both for personal contact and bill paying.
