I think it was obvious watching that first half that Utah came out a little bit sluggish coming off of the bye week, which is unusual for a Kyle Whittingham-coached football team. He's only lost one since his tenure at Utah after a bye week.
It was a slow start, scoring only 3 points all the way up to the fourth quarter. What I liked about it was they came back with 21 unanswered points, specifically the play of Terrence Cain. I think he showed a lot of poise as the quarterback, coming into first game conference play, on the road, coming from behind. And obviously the play from Robert Johnson. Those were game-changing plays.
Without those three interceptions, I don't know if Utah would have been able to come back and take the momentum like they did.
What I like to see from the defense is show a bit of glitz package, specifically from the linebacker safety. Having some of the safety blitz off the edge makes the O line back on their heels a little bit.
Moving forward, I think it was a big win for Utah, especially for quarterback Terrence Cain, coming from behind. Big win for him. I think this will carry on throughout the week and this will help them down the road against tough teams like TCU and BYU.
