CENTERVILLE -- Centerville police arrested a man who was walking around a Walmart with a loaded handgun Wednesday evening.

Centerville police Sgt. Von Steenblick says the man was fired from the Walmart last week and had threatened to shoot an assistant manager.

"Over the last week he's made phone calls into the store telling employees he was going to come and shoot this assistant manager in the face," Steenblick says.

The suspect ended up going to the Walmart Wednesday with a .45-caliber handgun in a hip holster. He asked employees about the assistant manager, and they called police.

It took officer several minutes to find the suspect, who was wandering around the store searching for the assistant manager.

Officers drew their guns and arrested the man, who they say did not draw his weapon, in the electronics department. Police were getting ready to evacuate the store when the man was taken into custody.

Centerville police plan to release the man's name when he's charged Thursday.
