OREM -- Don't have time for religion? A church in Orem is now letting people submit requests for prayers in a drive-thru box.

The Orem Community Church at 400 E. 130 North has a converted white mailbox next to its sign in the parking lot. The Rev. Daniel Haas said requests for prayers have gone up 20 percent the past couple months.

"People are used to driving by boxes and doing business there. Whoever told us that God wouldn't wait for you in a parking lot?" Haas said. "So, we thought, hey, why don't you pray driving by."

Haas said most prayers were about personal issues and journeys of faith. Others were about work and health. They can come from other faiths as well.

"From the wording of our prayer requests, you can tell some are of the predominant faith -- like a lot of them are, actually -- but they talk about stuff they are not able to talk in their churches about," Haas said.

Haas acknowledged this didn't make religion and faith more convenient for people than actually showing up on Sunday.

"It's anonymous. You don't have to share your name if you don't want to," Haas said. "It's a safer environment, but still it's about church and it's about God."
