Press releaseLEHI -- Sorenson Champions Challenge, where current PGA and LPGA touring professionals and golf's legends play in Utah, today announced that Vanguard Golf will host the inaugural Champions Cup at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club on Saturday, October 10.
The Champions Cup is a tournament intended for the amateur golfer, who will compete in teams of two against other amateur golfers. Participating teams will be handicapped based on their UGA index, or a letter from a PGA professional. On Monday, October 12, Champions Cup grand prizewinners will be paired with a professional or celebrity playing in this year's Champions Challenge Pro-Am.
Mark Whetzel, Managing Director of Vanguard Golf and Director of Golf for Thanksgiving Point Golf Club said, "We're excited to be hosting a tournament surrounding the Champions Challenge for the average golfing enthusiast. We plan to make this event an annual tradition in our community and are looking forward to showcasing the outstanding golf course at Thanksgiving Point."
In addition to Vanguard Golf, sponsors of the Champions Cup include Kneaders Bakery and Swire Coca-Cola.
Teams competing in the Champions Cup will participate in a round of golf on Saturday, October 10th and receive lunch from Kneaders Bakery, an opportunity to win multiple prizes throughout the day and four general admission tickets to the Champions Challenge.

The schedule of events for the Champions Cup on Saturday, October 10th will include player registration at 8:00 a.m., shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. and an awards presentation at 2:00 p.m.
