SALT LAKE CITY -- KSL is ready to unveil the latest rankings for Utah's top academic high schools. We made some presentations Wednesday night in conjunction with our Friday Night Flights, Wednesday edition.

We went armed to spotlight both athletics and academics. The two teams on our game of the week--Davis and Viewmont-- made our list of top five schools. They're two of many schools that have shown academic excellence.

KSL hired a research team to analyze state test scores. These are the top 10:

  • Park City
  • Davis High
  • Skyline
  • Viewmont
  • Timpanogos
  • Timpview
  • Lone Peak
  • Academy for Math, Engineering and Science, a charter school
  • Alta
  • And new to this year's list, Taylorsville High School

The criteria we considered were proficiency--how well students performed on state standards in core subjects--progress, and advanced placement tests.

You'll find the complete rankings, along with a comprehensive database on Utah high schools here.
