DALLAS, Jan 17, 2007 (UPI via COMTEX) -- One of the five Dallas-area cheerleaders photographed posing with phallus-shaped candles says the high school students now regret the "stupid mistake."

Elizabeth Griffin, who -- along with four other cheerleaders from McKinney North High School -- attracted a media frenzy when cheerleading coach Michaela Ward resigned after claiming school administrators were hindering her attempts to discipline the girls, said the cheerleaders were not thinking when the offending picture was taken, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.

"It was a stupid mistake," Griffin said. "We will never live it down, but we never thought about that at the time."

"It's taught me a lot about how life is," she said. "I've learned a lot from it."

The girls said the photo, which was taken at a condom store, was the clerk's idea.

"We were thinking no one would ever see this except good friends," one of the girls said. "It just got out of hand because everyone saw it."

Ward resigned three months ago, claiming Principal Linda Theret, whose daughter Karrissa was one of the photographed cheerleaders, was interfering in her disciplinary measures. Theret has since resigned her post.
