OGDEN -- Lawyers for a man accused in the murder of two prostitutes will have to deal with the Weber County Attorney's Office. A judge denied their motion to have the entire office disqualified from prosecuting the case.

According to the Standard-Examiner, attorneys for Jacob Ethridge claimed there was a conflict of interest for the office because newly-appointed Weber County Attorney Dee Smith was partners with a lawyer who formerly represented Ethridge.

The judge in the case said Smith has had no contact with Ethridge, and determined that no conflict exists.

Prosecutors claim Ethridge admitted to fatally shooting Teresa Rene Tingey and Rosanna Marie Cruz in Ogden in July of last year.

If convicted, Ethridge faces the death penalty.
