WEST VALLEY CITY -- The woman attacked by her ex-husband at her job just had surgery on her shoulder. Her ex-husband, 35-year-old Charles Gordon, is in jail facing five felony charges--including attempted murder.

West Valley police say Gordon attacked his wife outside, then inside Discover Card Financial Services in West Valley this past Tuesday. Officers credit two security guards for stopping the attack.

KSL News spoke to CBI Security Thursday, which contracts guards to Discover. They said the guards are Eric Wright and Jeff Goez, and workplace violence is something they've been trained for.

"They did as they were trained, without regard to their own personal safety," said Jim Cross, with CBI Security. "They're really humble. To them--and I was out there that day--and to them it was just part of their job. It just goes with the territory."

West Valley detectives say there was a protective order against Gordon and that he has attacked his ex-wife before.
