(KSL News) The Humane Society of Utah set a couple records last year.

The shelter placed more than 61-hundred dogs and cats with families. That's an increase of nearly four percent over 2005, which was a record year.

It also sterilized almost 10-thousand animals. That's up nearly six percent and also a new record.

Humane Society Sets New Record for Pet Adoptions

The shelter places about 90 percent of its animals and hopes within the next year or so to eliminate the need for euthanasia altogether.
