NEW YORK, Jan 3, 2007 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Former Playboy model Bridget Marks wants to sue a court-appointed psychiatrist in New York for causing her to lose custody of her twin daughters.
Marks's court-appointed psychiatrist, Dr. Stephen Billick, was assigned to work out visitation rights for the 10-year-old twins and their father, but he, Marks claimed overstepped his bounds and suggested the father have sole custody, the New York Post reported.
"We're asking for accountability," said Marks, who lost her daughters for 10 months.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam threw out the lawsuit early last year, finding that Billick couldn't be held liable for any alleged wrongdoing because he had "judicial immunity" because he was acting as an officer of the court.
Billick's lawyer, Ellen Fishman, showed the potential danger of the lawsuit, stating, "It would set a very dangerous precedent to expose this type of expert to liability."
