Samantha Hayes Reporting Many are traveling to Denver a day late because of that second big snowstorm that hit Colorado last night.
Yes. Relatively speaking, this was a minor inconvenience. About half a dozen flights from Denver out of Salt Lake City were canceled this morning, but the airport tells us most travelers have been accommodated on later flights.
The lines were a little long at the United counter where folks were getting their travel plans sorted out. United and Frontier airlines handle about 80 percent of the traffic in and out of Denver International airport.
Denver International Airport remained open. Most of the runways are functional. And the airport says about 600 people spent the night there; although it was different situation from the storm that hit over Christmas when passengers had no choice but to stay because the Boulevard out of the airport was closed.
This second storm was a concern for travelers flying out of Salt Lake City, but it has turned out to be a manageable inconvenience for most.
Gene Williams, Flying to Denver: "I was a little worried about it but we're okay by now the sun is out and everything."
Jared Wright, Flying to Denver: "We just got canceled and changed our flight. That's all. It was an easy fix just had to get on the phone and call. No problem." Jared Wright is flying to Denver for the 49ers/Broncos game, so it looks like he'll be in good shape.
Airport managers are still recommending passengers to contact their airline and arrive at the airport early this weekend.
