WEST JORDAN -- A man was killed Friday in an industrial accident at the Insterstate Brick facility at 5200 West on the Old Bingham Highway in West Jordan.

The man has been identified as 40-year-old Leonard Maez of Kearns.

West Jordan Fire Department Assistant Chief Marc McElreath says Maez became trapped under the door that goes to a kiln on Friday afternoon. He says the door at Interstate Brick weighs between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds.

McElreath says Maez was hit in his waist area. He was dead when authorities arrived. It's not clear how he became trapped.
