(KSL News) Hogle Zoo is mourning the loss of its female African lion, Abby. Veterinarians today euthanized the big cat at age 20, one of the oldest lions in captivity.
Abby's health started declining in October. Vets treated her and she seemed to rally but over the past few days they say her quality of life was diminishing dramatically.
Average life expectancy for a lion in captivity is 12 to 15 years.
