Whit Johnson Reporting From bad weather to runway construction, some major airports across the country are experiencing ground delays.
On the day after Christmas officials with Salt Lake International say they've been extra busy.
The bad news is airports on both coasts have some big delays. The good news is that here in Utah it's been busy, but pretty smooth.
Travelers, though, should still plan ahead. Delays elsewhere can trickle down and cause problems here at home. Confusion, frustration and a change of plans makes a frequent airport scene the day after Christmas.
Kevin Crenshaw, traveler: "Uncertainty always makes it the worst. You know, you load everything up, you're coming up to the airport, you're wondering when we get there, is there going to be a flight?"
Mark Lewis, Transportation Security Administration: "For what we're experiencing as TSA, I would say it's busier this year than what we've seen last year."
The Federal Aviation Administration reports significant delays on both coasts. Places like San Francisco, Newark and Philadelphia.
Here in Salt Lake City, delays have been minor, however travelers are still urged to plan ahead.
Mark Lewis: "If flights are delayed and passengers are backed up, of course it can impact our operations here as well. Generally you might see a little longer wait time."
Last week the Denver blizzard was the story. TSA officials now say that mess is mostly cleared up. But air-travel problems from last week are still being corrected today.
Jeanette Chidester, son's flight canceled: "My son was supposed to be here yesterday for Christmas and he got to the airport in Indianapolis yesterday morning eight hours early and they said it was canceled."
Kevin Crenshaw: "We heard about the delays and I had a friend who actually arrived in Los Angeles and couldn't make the flight because another plane was held up somewhere. So we were a little bit worried about that we have seven kids traveling with us."
While the hustle and bustle was frustrating for many travelers in some cases it meant extra time for waiting friends and family.
Bob Pugmire, son arriving from mission: "We're here to pick him up. He's about 45 minutes late, but that gave everybody a chance to get here."
TSA officials say the airports will remain very busy through the first of the year. They say to come about two hours early and to check to see if your flight is on time before you leave home.
