Ashley Hayes Reporting It is one of the busiest travel days of the year. And this morning as drivers hit the streets, snow made their commutes treacherous.
Across the valley, Salt Lake County had the highest accident totals with cars sliding off roads and several fender benders.
We didn't get a lot of snow this morning just a few inches, but timing is everything, and the snow started coming down just before the morning commute.
Highway Patrol is reporting there were thirty weather related accidents this morning in Salt Lake County and another nine cars slid off the roads.
Davis, Utah, and Weber counties also recorded accidents. In Sunset a woman was ejected from her car. We have crews on the way there now.
In South Jordan one road is closed from an early wreck. Crews are busy cleaning up that section of Jordan Gateway.
Officials say a driver going too fast hit a fire hydrant which spewed water, rock, and mud all over the road.
Don Bruey, Director of Operations South Jordan City: "It made a real big mess and the worst part is it undermined part of the road."
But in Sugarhouse Park there was nothing but fun to be had in the snow. Kids old and young were sledding down hills. And animals included--the cold water didn't deter ducks from hitting the ice. Folks were out walking their dogs, you can see them bounding through the snow.
