Greg Neft Reporting A school with ties to the family who lost their father to a fatal hit-and-run accident is raising money to help them deal with this tragedy.
Glendale Intermediate Principal Ernie Nis says hit-and-run victim Mason Haywood's son goes to the school and is doing the best he can.
Ernie Nis: "It's a tough time. We visited him yesterday. He was very close to his father, and I guess he is doing as good as expected."
So Nis says the school pulled together to help the family by holding a bake sale.
Ernie Nis: "Our students really participated in major ways in that."
So far, Nis says they've raised 400 dollars, and that number will only go up. He says they'd like to get more of the community involved in the outreach effort.
The school is located at 1430 Andrew Ave. in Salt Lake City, or you can call the school at 801-974-8319.
