SOUTH JORDAN -- Cleanup will begin Wednesday morning at a South Jordan restaurant after it was damaged by a two-alarm fire.
People passing by Tokyo City restaurant at 10467 S. Redwood Road Tuesday night called 911 after heavy smoke inside the building triggered a fire alarm. Crews arrived to find the restaurant's sprinkler system had doused most of the flames.
Capt. Nathan Morreale of the South Jordan Fire Department said, "Very fortunate that this business had a sprinkler system. The system activated just like it was supposed to and it contained the fire."
Crews knocked down flames burning inside the restaurant's walls and attic before the fire could spread to neighboring businesses.
Crews say the damage is extensive, mostly from water.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
