SALT LAKE COUNTY -- The Utah Sheriff's Association has awarded more than 40 scholarships to students throughout the state. Twelve of those students are from Salt Lake County and received their awards Tuesday from Sheriff Jim Winder.
"It just means a lot to receive an award from the community that's given so much to me over the years, and I'm thrilled to be giving back to it," said scholarship recipient Nicholas Thiriot.
The scholarships were awarded to students who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement.
