SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A Bluffdale man charged with attempted murder for shooting a neighborhood watch volunteer is out on bail. And he's expressing thanks.

Reggie Campos, 43, walked out of the Salt Lake County Jail without shoes Wednesday afternoon because he wasn't wearing any when he was arrested July 22.

As he walked down a ramp to his brother's car, he told the Deseret News reports that he shot an unarmed man aren't true. Campos said he's looking forward to his day in court to prove it and expects other witnesses to testify in his defense.

Campos is accused of shooting 36-year-old David Serbeck while on neighborhood watch. Campos thought Serbeck was harassing his daughter.

Campos also told the paper he'd like to thank two cell mates who made his stay in jail "manageable."

He also thanked the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office for treating him with respect.

Third District Court Judge Robert Adkins had reduced Campos' bail from $500,000 cash only to $100,000 bondable bail.
