RICHMOND, Va. (AFX) - Newspaper and television station operator Media General Inc. said Tuesday its November revenue increased 21 percent from the same period last year, buoyed by ad sales at four new NBC television stations.
Not including the new stations, Media General said revenue rose 6.1 percent.
Total sales for the month were $91.7 million, up from $75.7 million last year.
The most significant growth came from the company's broadcast division, which grew revenue by 77 percent including results from the new stations, or 28.2 percent, excluding the new stations. Broadcast revenue for the month was $41.1 million, up from $23.2 million last year.
The Interactive Media Division grew revenue by 24 percent to $2.2 million, from $1.8 million last year.
Meanwhile, the publishing division saw revenue drop 4 percent to $48.9 million from $51.1 million last year, due to weak classified and national advertising sales.
