ISHIKARI, Japan, Dec 10, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Students at Japan's Fuji Women's University have developed a pink brew named after the place where Jesus famously turned water into wine.

The Mainichi Daily News reported that this new drink, called Cana Story, goes on sale in Japan this week.

A microbrewer in Ishikari reportedly wanted to make a brew that young women would enjoy drinking.

"We cut down the bitterness in the hope that female university students would like the taste, too," Yasuharu Osugi, Cana Story's brewer, said.

Cana Story has less malt and a reduced alcohol content than most beers.

"We've had inquiries from Sapporo department stores about it, so it'll be fun to see how sales go," Ryo Nakajima, the brewer's managing director, told the Daily News.
