SALT LAKE CITY -- Although the official search has been called off for an 8-year-old boy who fell into a Salt Lake canal, the volunteer search continues.

Trejon Fite was attempting to cross a pipe over a Jordan River surplus canal when he fell into the water last month. He is presumed drowned.

Volunteers are still searching for Fite's body, hoping to give some closure to the family.

Police say a team of cadaver dogs will occasionally join that search.
