SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah will get $1.9 million in federal stimulus funds to help clean up leaks from underground storage tanks.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the money is part of $7.9 million distributed to Utah, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming.
EPA officials say the money will be used to oversee the assessment and cleanup of leaks from underground tanks, which often store petroleum or other hazardous substances.
The biggest concern, EPA officials say, is that petroleum could seep into the soil and contaminate groundwater.
